Anacortes Christian Church

Dr. Robert Mounce will be teaching a class on the book of James here at Anacortes Christian Church. Beginning June 30th, classes will be held Sundays in the Fireside room at 9:00am.

This is a very unique opportunity to hear the practical wisdom and knowledge of a renowned Bible translator, author, and teacher.  Dr. Mounce was born in 1921. He has five children, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He has authored numerous books and commentaries (see below for a complete list). In addition, Dr. Mounce was also involved in Bible translation at various levels with the NIV, TNIV, NIrV, NLT, and ESV (associate NT editor) as well as numerous articles in Bible dictionaries, encyclopedias, theological wordbooks, professional journals and lay magazines (e.g., “Question and Answer” columns for 21 years in The Standard and Eternity). His professional career is very full, ranging from Dive Bomber Pilot in the 1940’s, to interim pastor, to president of Whitworth College.

Now Dr. Mounce finds himself retired here in Anacortes WA, but he still has a heart for Bible translation, ministry, and teaching, thus he remains active in these areas even at 91 years of age! We hope you will join us this summer. Read on for more information on Dr. Mounce’s life, publications, and professional career.

Earlier this year we recorded this video of Dr. Mounce as an illustration for a sermon on the importance of the Bible:
